The was discontinued on 12/1/1940 and the CC went from Bedford Park to Hudson Terminal (WTC) 12/1/1940 to 1976. Thereafter, it switched routes with the in Brooklyn and Queens going from Bedford Park to Rockaway Park until 12/11/1988. On 5/5/1986, the CC was renamed and went from 145th street to Euclid Ave by 12/11/1988. On March 1, 1998, the switched northern routes with the train and now has a route from 168th st, Manhattan to Euclid Ave.

The movie "Ghost" was filmed in an abandoned lower level of the 42nd street station under the Port Authority bus terminal in 1989. This was the scene where Patrick Swayzie was first learning how to fling soda caps and realizing his spiritual powers. Additionally, the Hoyt Schermerhorn station is best known for the late Michael Jackson's video "Bad" back in 1987.
