There was a time when the train extended beyond 57th street via the Queens Blvd subway. This route was possible because of a small connection on 12/1/1955 between the 60th street tunnel and Queens Blvd line. The concept of this connection was to allow (BMT) trains to merge with the (IND) tracks & vice versa. It allowed for an extended BMT #1c train between the Brighton and Queens Blvd subway and renamed the . Although, the service moved to the Astoria el 11/15/1960 - 11/27/1967, the small connection was used for various other lines throughout the years like the train 11/27/1967 to 8/27/1976 from 71 Continental Ave to Whitehall. Later, the was phased out and taken over by an extended train on 8/27/1976 from 71 Continental Ave to Stillwell Ave. Then the train switched routes with the , enabling the to go back to the Astoria el from Ditmars Blvd to Stillwell Ave 5/24/1987 to the present.
